Why visit
At the southeast end of the island of Tuosa, on a terrace by the southwest shore of Hiekkaniemi, lies a dwelling site. The terrace probably emerged from the water after the Vuoksi broke through.
Look for: The northeast wall of an old sand pit has yielded asbestos-tempered pottery and quartz; about 10 metres east of the find spot is a roundish depression some 7 metres across, possibly a dwelling depression.
About this site
Asuinpaikka sijaitsee Tuosa-nimisen saaren kaakkoispäässä, Hiekkaniemen lounaisrannalla olevalla tasanteella. Löydöt vanhan hiekkakuopan koillisseinämästä: keramiikkaa (asbestisekoite), kvartsia. Löytökohdasta noin 10 metriä itään on pyöreähkö painanne, mahdollinen asumuspainanne, jonka halkaisija on noin 7 metriä. Tasanne lienee paljastunut veden alta Vuoksen puhkeamisen jälkeen.
