Why visit

In Kaariainen, on the northeastern end of a rocky hill rising at the edge of the fields, once stood a cairn known since the late 1800s.

Look for: All that remains of the cairn is its base paving, roughly 8 by 6 metres.

About this site

Kohde sijaitsee Kaariaisissa, Ollan talosta 130 m pohjoisluoteeseen, Kaariaistentien pohjoispuolella. Maasto on pohjoisreunastaan jyrkkärinteisen kalliomäen koillispäätä, jonka itäpuolella on peltoaukea. Paikalta on tunnettu röykkiö 1800-luvun lopulta lähtien. Röykkiöstä on jäljellä ainoastaan pohjakiveys (8 x 6 x 0,3 m).

Official description (in Finnish)

Koivusaari

Koivusaari is an island and a part of the district of Lauttasaari in Helsinki, Finland. The island hosts two yacht clubs and a former Nokia training centre. The current island of Koivusaari has been formed by combining the island of Koivusaari proper with the island of Leppäsaari to the south of it and expanding it. Since the late 1990s and early 2000s there have been plans to construct a new residential area on reclaimed land in Koivusaari, served by the Koivusaari metro station.
