Why visit
On the sandy slope at Sorola, between bog and rocky hill, an ancient dwelling site was recorded as early as 1971 — a place whose story gravel extraction has already carried much of away.
Look for: Finds were recovered above all from the northern edge of the gravel pit; from what remains of the slope, a view opens out to the south and south-west.
About this site
Kohde sijaitsee Sorolassa, Krouvintieltä 150 m lounaaseen ja 750 m Turuntien risteyksestä etelään. Maasto on etelään ja lounaaseen viettävää hiekkarinnettä, jonka eteläpuolella on suota ja pohjoispuolella kalliomäkeä. Alueella on laajahko sorakuoppa. Paikalta on todettu asuinpaikka 1971. Löytöjä on saatu talteen erityisesti kuopan pohjoisreunasta.
Suurin osa muinaisjäännöksestä on ilmeisesti tuhoutunut soranoton takia. Kohde kuuluu samaan kokonaisuuteen kuin Hangassuo ja Hangassuonmäki (mjreki 1000000092 ja 1000000096).
