Why visit
In the field south of the Erolanniemi house, on an old shore terrace of the Pielisjoki, lies a dwelling site whose finds (KM 33852:1-4) include both early Comb Ware and Early Metal Age asbestos-tempered pottery.
Look for: The field slopes gently down to the river and the ancient shore terraces stand out clearly. Erolanniemi 1 sits on the upper one, and the sherds and quartz came from the field's northwest corner.
About this site
Asuinpaikka sijaitsee Kulhossa, Pielisjoen vanhalla rantaterassilla, Erolanniemen talon pellossa, jonka reuna on noin 10 m päässä talon eteläpuolella. Löytökohdalla pelto laskee loivasti Pielisjokeen. Pielisjoen muinaisrantaterassit erottuvat paikalla selvästi. Erolanniemi 1 sijaitsee ylemmällä terassilla.
Asuinpaikkalöydöt (KM 33852:1-4) on poimittu noin 70 x 70 m kokoiselta alalta. Saviastianpalat ja kvartsit ovat löytyneet pellon luoteisnurkasta, mutta palaneet luut ovat löytyneet koko pellon alalta. Saviastianpalat ovat varhaista kampakeramiikkaa ja varhaismetallikautista asbestikeramiikkaa. Talon pohjoispuolella on toinen asuinpaikka, Erolanniemi 2 (kohde 1000002665).
