Salmelan taimitarha

Savonlinna

Why visit

Asbestos-tempered pottery and quartz flakes were picked from the walls of the sand pit south-east of the store buildings at the Salmela tree nursery. Most of the Stone Age dwelling site was probably destroyed when the nursery was built.

Look for: The sand pit lies north of the seedling rows, south-east of the store buildings. Part of the sand ridge was removed when the nursery was built.

About this site

Kohde sijaitsee Hannolanpellon alueella, Salmelan taimitarhan varastorakennusten kaakkoispuolella ja taimirivien pohjoispuolella olevan hiekkakuopan luona. Asbestikeramiikkaa ja kvartsi-iskoksia (KM 24902) on poimittu hiekkakuopan seinämistä. Todennäköisesti suurin osa asuinpaikasta on tuhoutunut taimitarhaa tehtäessä, jolloin osa hiekkaharjusta on poistettu.
