Why visit
South of the railway stood a pitch works in the 1600s, the oldest industrial plant in Vaasa. It began operating around 1678. The site lies about 200 metres from the railway, and as far again from the motorway and the Old Vaasa canal.
Look for: The evidence is in the soil layers. Excavations during the Second World War, made for the shore road, turned up pitch, fragments of brick and pieces of barrel.
About this site
Kohde sijaitsee junaradan eteläpuolella, noin 200 metriä radasta. Kohteen eteläpuolella risteytyvät moottoritie ja Vanhan Vaasan kanaali ja niihinkin on matkaa 200 metriä. Paikalla on 1600-luvulla toiminut pikitehdas, joka on Vaasan vanhin teollisuuslaitos. Tehdas aloitti toimintansa noin vuodesta 1678.
