Why visit
On the southern shore field of Niskanperä, right beside the buildings of the Niittyranta farm, lies an ancient dwelling site on the brink above the Kemijoki's western bay. Test excavations were dug on the shore in 1961, before the Valajaskoski dam was built.
Look for: The brink here is clay and gravel. The 1961 test pits found no layers belonging to the dwelling site at that spot. The place is also known as Niskanperä 15.

Niskanperän eteläisellä rantapellolla, Niittyranta-nimisen tilan rakennusten kupeella oleva muinainen asuinpaikka. Kohde on Kemijoen läntisen lahdelman savi- ja soraperäisellä törmällä. Tunnetaan myös nimellä Niskanperä 15. Rantavyöhykkeellä tehty koekaivauksia 1961 ennen Valajaskosken padon rakentamista, mutta asuinpaikkaan liittyviä kerrostumia ei kohdassa todettu.
