Why visit

Near the shore, facing the Ostrobothnian Museum, stands the former governor's residence — a neo-Gothic private palace designed by provincial architect C.A. Setterberg. Step into the domestic architecture of the revival era.

Look for: Notice how the house is built of brick and rendered; inside, the original room layout and part of the interiors have survived.

About this site

Lähellä merenrantaa, vastapäätä Pohjanmaan museota sijaitseva entinen maaherrantalo on alun perin lääninarkkitehti C.A. Setterbergin suunnitelmin rakennettu, tiilistä muurattu, rapattu, uusgoottilainen yksityispalatsi. Rakennus on mielenkiintoinen esimerkki kertaustyylien kauden asuntoarkkitehtuurista, jonka huonejärjestys ja osa alkuperäisistä interiööreistä on säilynyt.

Entinen Wasastjernan talo, sittemmin maaherrantalo, on osa Vaasan rantapuisto julkisine rakennuksineen ja Vaasan Höyrymylly -nimistä valtakunnallisesti merkittävää rakennettua kulttuuriympäristöä (RKY-kohde).
