Why visit

About 300 metres southeast of Rovaniemi church lies one of the most central prehistoric dwelling sites along the Kemijoki. The stone oven settings in its huts were examined as early as the 1860s by the lay judge Johan Hoikka.

Look for: There is nothing left to see on the ground: the area today lies mostly under settlement, and the ruins of the ancient dwellings have been destroyed.

About this site

Kohde sijaitsee Rovaniemen kirkosta noin 300 metriä kaakkoon. Keskeisimpiä Kemijokivarren muinaisasuinpaikkoja, jonka tupien uunikiveyksiä tutkittiin jo 1860-luvulla lautamies Johan Hoikan toimesta. Nykyisin alue on pääosin asutuksen alla ja muinaisten asumusten rauniot on hävitetty. Samaa kohdetta kuin ROI 403.
