Why visit

The dwelling site lies in the field on the east bank of the Iiksenjoki, about 15 metres from the water, and quartz flakes have been picked up along some 200 metres parallel to the river. An Ilomantsi-type axe (KM 21442) was found on the opposite bank.

Look for: The field slopes gently south while the edge of the bank drops steeply to the river, and the soil is fine clayey sand. Dredged material from the river has also been spread on the riverside fields.

About this site

Asuinpaikka sijaitsee Iiksenjoen itärannan pellolla, noin 15 m etäisyydellä joenrannasta. Löytöjä, kvartsi-iskoksia, tuli pellolta noin 200 m matkalta joen rannan suuntaisesti. Pelto viettää loivasti etelään, sen sijaan rantatörmän reuna viettää jokeen jyrkästi. Maaperä on hienoa savensekaista hiekkaa.

Iiksenjoen vastakkaiselta rannalta on löytynyt Ilomantsin tyypin kirves (KM 21442) Joensuu 7 Iiksenjoenranta -kohteesta. Läheisen talon omistaja kertoi, että Iiksen joesta on nostettu ruopattua maa-ainesta joenvarren pelloille.
