The crest of the Pyynikki ridge rises 80 metres above Lake Pyhäjärvi, and people have come here for recreation since the early 1800s. The ridge belongs to an esker stretch over 200 kilometres long.
Look for: The present 26-metre classicist lookout tower was built in the 1920s from red granite — climb to the top and take in the view across the ridge.
Pyynikinharju on merkittävä matkailu- ja vapaa-ajankohde, jonka virkistys- ja nähtävyyskäyttö on alkanut jo 1800-luvun alkupuolella. Pyynikin harju kuuluu yli 200 kilometriä pitkään harjujaksoon, joka ulottuu Salpausselältä Pohjois-Satakuntaan. Harjun lakiosa on 80 metriä Pyhäjärven pinnan yläpuolella. Pyynikin nykyinen 26 metriä korkea klassistinen näkötorni on rakennettu 1920-luvulla punaisesta graniitista.

The Pyynikki observation tower is a 26 meter observation tower in Pyynikki, a district and a nature reserve in Tampere, Finland. It was completed in 1929 by the design of the city architect Vilho Kolho, and built using local red granite. The tower stands 75 meters above the level of the adjacent lake Pyhäjärvi on the ridge crest of the Pyynikki Esker.
