Kangasala church

Stone church, cruciform church with end tower. Kangasala stone church is a cruciform church with a west tower where the nave is slightly wider than the transept arms. The transept arm roof ends are hipped. The nave is covered by a high hipped roof. The sacristy is in the northern transept arm. The tower at the nave gable has curved roof pitches and a lantern at the top.

The church's baroque pulpit dates from 1661. The altarpiece depicts Jesus in Gethsemane and was painted by J.J. Tavastjerna in 1823. The church inventory includes medieval sculptures. The leafy churchyard is surrounded by an old stone wall. On the bell tower hill there is an old parish granary fitted out for the use of Kangasala museum in 1951 (O.I. Meurman).
