Punkaharjun valtionhotelli

The former Crown Forest at Punkaharju, subsequently the Finnish Forest Research Institute's research area, now a nature reserve administered by Metsähallitus, has a rich history and a diverse building stock. The State Hotel's main building, the outbuilding in its courtyard, the so-called Empress's Villa situated on the slope towards the lake, and the lakeshore sauna are the oldest part of the tourism-serving building stock that has come into being in several phases. Also connected to the State Hotel's operations are the cellar in the hotel courtyard and the pavilion at the boat pier at Kaarnaniemi.
