Why visit
East of the Hiukka farmhouse, in a fine-sand slope and partly beneath a barn, remains of an inhumation cemetery from the close of the Iron Age have been found. One of the burials was excavated in 1982, and radiocarbon dating places it between 1080 and 1270.
Look for: Look at the fine-sand slope east of the Hiukka farmhouse. The burial ground continues in under the barn, and one of the dead was excavated here in the 1982 dig.
About this site
Hiukan talon itäpuolella olevassa hienohiekkaisessa rinteessä, osin ladon alla, on löydetty jäännöksiä rautakauden lopulle ajoittuvasta lappalaisten ruumiskalmistosta. Yksi vainajista löytyi vuoden 1982 kaivauksessa. Vainajasta on radiohiiliajoitus (Hel-2337, 830+-100 BP), joka kalibroituna sijoittuu jaksolle 1080-1270 jKr.
