Why visit
In Ranta-Toivala, north-east of Virtasalmi in Kelloselkä, a Stone Age dwelling site lies on a west-facing slope by the Halmejoki. The ground is stone-free sand, and sand extraction has badly destroyed the site area.
Look for: The dwelling-site finds came to light in the upper part of the sandpit, along its southern and eastern edges.

Asuinpaikka sijaitsee Ranta-Toivalassa, Kelloselän Virtasalmen koillispuolella, Toivolan Pökösenmäen länsipuolella olevan Halmejoen länteen viettävällä rinteellä. Maaperä alueella on kivetöntä hiekkaa. Asuinpaikkalöydöt ovat tulleet esille alueella olevan hiekkakuopan yläosasta, kuopan etelä- ja itäreunalta. Asuinpaikka-alue on pahasti tuhoutunut hiekanotossa.
