Why visit

In the field north of the Erolanniemi house lies a dwelling site whose finds (KM 33853:1-3) were picked from an area of about 50 by 50 metres. The pottery sherd found here is Early Metal Age asbestos-tempered ware.

Look for: The field slopes gently to the river and the ancient shore terraces stand out clearly. Erolanniemi 2 lies on the lower one, and a second site, Erolanniemi 1, is south of the house.

About this site

Asuinpaikka sijaitsee Kulhossa, Pielisjoen vanhalla rantaterassilla, Erolanniemen talon pellossa, talon pohjoispuolella. Löytökohdalla pelto laskee loivasti Pielisjokeen. Pielisjoen muinaisrantaterassit erottuvat paikalla selvästi. Erolanniemi 2 sijaitsee alemmalla terassilla. Asuinpaikkalöydöt (KM 33853:1-3) on poimittu noin 50 x 50 m kokoiselta alalta.

Paikalta löytynyt saviastianpala on varhaismetallikautista asbestikeramiikkaa. Talon eteläpuolella on toinen asuinpaikka, Erolanniemi 1 (kohde 1000002664).
