Why visit

In among the apartment blocks of the Saksala district, west of the playground at the end of Vaahterakatu, lies a cup-marked stone: an iron-rich, weathered erratic boulder on a north-facing slope that is steep in places.

Look for: The boulder measures 4.2 by 2.6 metres and stands 1.5 metres high at its southern end. There are three cups in all, on its gently north-sloping upper surface.

About this site

Kuppikivi sijaitsee Saksalan kaupunginosassa keskellä kerrostaloasutusta, Vaahterakadun päässä olevan leikkikentän länsipuolella. Ympäröivä maasto on pohjoiseen viettävää, paikoin jyrkkää rinnettä. Kivi on rautapitoinen ja rapautunut siirtolohkare. Se on kooltaan 4,2 x 2,6 m, eteläpäässä kiven korkeus on 1,5 m. Kuppeja on yhteensä kolme, ja ne ovat kiven loivasti pohjoiseen viettävällä yläpinnalla.
