Why visit
Built of wood in 1740 beside Porvoo's medieval cathedral, the Finnish church is a quiet, towerless long-church — a modest neighbour to the great stone church alongside it.
Look for: Notice the hipped shingle roof and the western porch, narrower and lower than the nave — the clear proportions of a simple wooden church.
About this site
Puukirkko, pitkäkirkko. Keskiaikaisen Porvoo tuomiokirkon viereen 1740 puusta rakennettu Porvoon suomalainen kirkko on muodoltaan torniton pitkäkirkko. Kirkon länsipäässä on runkohuonetta kapeampi ja matalampi eteishuone. Kirkon paanukatto on aumattu. Pieniruutuiset ikkunat ovat suorakaiteen malliset.
