Why visit
East of Kotkansaari, on the island of Pieni Varissaari, also called Pikku Elizabeth, stood battery number 5. It held three guns and was built of fill earth and stone.
Look for: The battery had a gun yard enclosed by a protective rampart, with an ammunition cellar on its north-east side.
About this site
Pienellä Varissaarella eli Pikku Elizabethin saarella Kotkansaaren itäpuolella sijaitsi patteri numero 5. Se oli rakennettu täytemaasta ja kivistä. Patterissa oli suojavallin ympäröimä tykkipiha ja koillissivulla ammuskellari. Patteriin mahtui kolme tykkiä. Kohde on rajattu paikkatietokantaan laserkeilausaineiston perusteella 03/2017.
