Why visit
Four kilometres east-south-east of Kajaani Castle, at the southern end of Mustalahti, a tar-burning pit was cut into the slope running down to the shore. It measures some 18 metres from the outer edge of the bank and is a good metre deep.
Look for: The tapping channel runs downhill towards the shore. The shore belt is lush deciduous woodland with dense undergrowth, so the pit is hard to make out in the growing season.

Kohde sijaitsee neljä kilometriä Kajaanin linnasta itäkaakkoon, Mustalahden eteläpäässä rannan tuntumassa. Mustalahden talo on 120 metriä kohteen eteläpuolella. Tervahauta on tehty rantaan viettävään rinteeseen, haudan leveys vallin ulkoreunasta mitattuna on noin 18 metriä ja syvyys reilu metri. Halssi on alarinteeseen kohti rantaa. Tervahauta ja rantavyöhyke on rehevää lehtimetsää ja aluskasvillisuus on tiheää. Hautaa on vaikea havaita kasvukaudella.
