Why visit

Look for: South of Kattilalampi there is an intact stone-vaulted cellar, while the mine pit itself is under water. According to the report, building foundations and jetty structures should also be visible.
About this site
Veden peittämä kaivoskuoppa, kaivannot ja ehjä kiviholvikellari sijaitsevat Kallaveden Laivonsaaren keskiosan länsirannalla, Kattilalammin eteläpuolella. Kaivoskäytävä on mahdollisesti lähtenyt kohti kalliota noin 15 - 20 metriä nykyisen vedenpinnan alapuolelta. Ilmoituksen mukaan paikalta louhittiin grafiittia, jota vietiin vesiteitse Pietariin vielä 1. maailmansodan aikoihin, ja näkyvissä olisi myös rakennusten (asumusten?)kivijalkoja ja laiturirakenteita. Laituri on sijainnut noin 100 metriä lahdesta pohjoiseen.
