Why visit
The fort built south of the bridge at Kivisalmi closed off the road that led to Kotkansaari from the north. It originally comprised a bastion, a curtain rampart and a demi-bastion, with two batteries behind them.
Look for: Only faintly discernible stone banks remain of the fort, on the Kivisalmi shore between the tracks running to the railway station and to the former oil harbour.
About this site
Kivisalmen sillan eteläpuolelle rakennettu linnake on sulkenut Kotkansaarelle pohjoisesta kulkevan tien. Linnake on alun perin käsittänyt bastionin, kurtiinivallin ja puolibastionin sekä näiden takana olevat kaksi patteria. Linnakkeesta on nykyisin jäljellä vain heikosti havaittavia kivipenkereitä rautatieasemalle ja entiseen öljysatamaan vievien ratojen välissä Kivisalmen rannassa.
