Muhoksen kirkko

Muhos

About this site

Wooden church, buttressed church. The west-towered buttressed church from 1634 on the southern bank of Oulujoki, widened into a still pool at Muhos church village, is one of the oldest wooden churches still in use in Finland. The Ostrobothnian Renaissance bell tower dates from 1762. The sacristy's painted decoration from 1774–78 (E. Granberg) is of exceptional value. The neo-Gothic features in the church and the tower date from the renovation in the early 1870s.
