Stone church, cruciform church with end tower. Kangasala stone church is a cruciform church with a west tower where the nave is slightly wider than the transept arms. The transept arm roof ends are hipped. The nave is covered by a high hipped roof. The sacristy is in the northern transept arm. The tower at the nave gable has curved roof pitches and a lantern at the top. The church's baroque pulpit dates from 1661. The altarpiece depicts Jesus in Gethsemane and was painted by J.J.
