About this site

Mikkeli railway station is the second of the original class III stations on the Savo railway line and the only surviving higher-class station building on the Savo line. Mikkeli station, like the other station buildings on the line, was executed according to the Oulu and Vaasa railway line drawings. The building forms a valuable termination of Hallituskatu and is an exceptional building on the Savo railway line. On the western side of the railway station there is a two-storey brick residential building for railway workers from 1922 and a wartime reserve station.
